About Us
Dulwich Hill Football Club is based in the inner west of Sydney. Our senior teams play in the Football NSW League One Men's competition while our Youth, Under 13s to Under 18s, participate in Football NSW Youth League 2 competition.
Our home ground is the beautiful and historic football ground, Arlington Oval.
The Dulwich Hill Football Club is proudly supported by many local businesses and individuals, in particular, the Portugal Madeira Club located in Marrickville. The PMC celebrates and promotes the Portuguese culture with particular emphasis on the island of Madeira.
The club logo is based on the flag of Madeira which features the Portuguese Cross of Christ. The cross has its origin in the Knights of Templar and later became the symbol of the Order of Christ (descendant of the Knights of Templar). It is one of the most important Portuguese symbols.
Club History
1932 - 1938
Arlington Oval was once a series of brick pits and was filled for reactional use in 1932. The oval hosted women athletes during the 1938 British Empire Games.
1968
The Dulwich Hill Football Club was officially established in 1968 by members of Sydney's Portuguese community from the island of Madeira, many of whom lived in Dulwich Hill and the surrounding suburbs.
1988
The grandstand was used in scenes in the Australian movie, The First Kangaroos (1988) which was about the Australian Rugby League's first international tour of England.
2010
Our club was promoted back into the Super League in 2010. Then, under the FNSW re-structure in 2012, the club was relegated to Men's State League 1 with U16, U18, U20 and First Grade teams competing in this division at present.
2014
After a 10 year campaign with Marrickville Council, Arlington Oval was upgraded with a synthetic surface and is now a premium ground in the FNSW competition.
